Privacy policy

Effective 25 August 2026

In short: the only personal information we collect is what you type into our contact form. We use it to answer you. We also keep an anonymous record of how the page itself gets used, which is not tied to your name unless you write to us. We do not sell any of it, we do not advertise to you, and this site sets no tracking cookies.

Who we are

HPF - Heat Pump Furnace ("HPF", "we", "us") is a heating-equipment business operating in Southern Alberta, Canada. We are responsible for the personal information under our control.

Privacy questions and requests go to Hannah, our privacy contact:
hannah@hpffurnaces.ca · (403) 973-1056

What we collect

When you submit the contact form on this site, you give us:

Our hosting provider also records standard technical information when a page is requested, such as your IP address, browser type and the time of the request. This is used to keep the site running and to detect abuse.

How the page gets used. So we can tell which parts of this site are useful, we record the actions below. None of them carry your name, email or IP address:

These records are tied together by a random number that lives in your browser tab and is erased when you close it. It is not a cookie, it does not follow you between visits or between sites, and on its own it identifies nobody. If you go on to submit the contact form, that same number is stored with your inquiry, so we can see what you were looking at before you wrote to us. If your browser sends a "Do Not Track" signal, we record none of this.

We do not collect payment information on this site. We do not use advertising trackers, analytics cookies, or social media pixels.

Why we collect it

Solely to respond to your inquiry: preparing an estimate, identifying whether your location is in our service area, and following up about HPF products and installation. We do not sell or rent your information, and we do not add you to marketing lists you did not ask for.

Your consent

Submitting the form is your consent for us to use your information for the purposes above. You can withdraw that consent at any time by emailing hannah@hpffurnaces.ca. Withdrawing consent means we stop contacting you and delete your inquiry, subject to any records we are legally required to keep.

Who else handles it

We do not sell or trade your information. We do rely on three service providers to operate this site, and your information passes through them:

Provider Role Location
Vercel Inc. Hosts this website and runs the contact form United States
Resend (Plus Five Five, Inc.) Delivers the contact form submission to our inbox as an email United States
Supabase, Inc. Stores contact form submissions and the anonymous usage records above United States

Information stored outside Canada. Because these providers operate in the United States, your information is stored on and transmitted through servers located outside Canada. While it is there, it is subject to the laws of that country, and may be accessible to foreign courts, law enforcement and government agencies under those laws. We tell you this because Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act requires it. Questions about this transfer can go to Hannah at the contact above.

How long we keep it

We keep inquiry details for up to 24 months after our last contact with you, so we can pick up a conversation where it left off and honour anything we quoted. After that they are deleted. Records connected to work we actually performed are kept longer where tax, warranty or other law requires it.

The anonymous records of how the page gets used are deleted automatically after 180 days.

How we protect it

The site is served over HTTPS, so what you type in the form is encrypted in transit. Access to the inbox that receives inquiries, and to the private dashboard where they are stored, is limited to the people at HPF who need it and is protected by a password. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but if a breach ever creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta as the law requires.

Your rights

Under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) you may:

Email hannah@hpffurnaces.ca and we will respond within 30 days. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta or to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Children

This site is aimed at homeowners and trade professionals. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and change the effective date at the top. Material changes will be described here rather than made silently.
